SIKESTON -- Gladys Bridges, 88, died at 9 p.m. Oct. 5, 2008, at the Sikeston Convalescent Center.
Born March 20, 1920, in Richwood, to the late Walter and Mary Brunk Arnold, she had lived in Bethalto, Ill., before moving to Sikeston two years ago. She was of the Baptist belief.

On Aug. 31, 1935, she married Orville Lawrence Bridges who preceded her in death on April 9, 1985.

One son, Robert Bridges, one daughter, Shirley Layton, and one brother, Wilson Arnold, also preceded her in death.

Survivors include: four daughters, Karen Turner of East Prairie, Judy Sherwood of Morehouse, Barbara Wimberly of Las Vegas and Dorothy Waltz of Bloomfield; two sisters, Edna Johnson of Bethalto and Hattie "Tootie" Miller of Milwaukee, Ore.; and 20 grandchildren, 44 great-grandchildren, 21 great-great-grandchildren and one great-great-great-grandchild.

Visitation is scheduled from 9 a.m. until time of services at 10 a.m. Thursday at the Shelby Funeral Home in East Prairie. Mike Worrell will officiate.

Graveside services are scheduled for 3 p.m. Thursday in the Old Bethalto Cemetery in Bethalto.

Pallbearers will be: Steve Turner, Mark Turner, David Turner, Robert Davis, James Knupp and Richard Oliver.
