Born Gerritje Zappeij to Johan Lodewijk Zappeij and Maria Van der Most. Married Francois Johannes Spitter (later changed to Spader) August 22, 1900. She came to the United States from Holland in 1913. She and Francois were the parents of 9 children; Margaret, Marie, Frank, Louis, Alice, Harry, Sarah, George, and Frances. At the time of her death, she had 33 grandchildren, 25 great-grandchildren, and 7 great-great-grandchildren.
