Aged Woodland Resident Dies
George McMullen an aged and well known woodland township resident, died Sunday morning about one o'clock at the home of his son Roy McMullen, east of Astoria with whom he had his home for the past 25 years. He followed the occupation of farming for several years.
He had been in poor health for several years, but became seriously ill two days previous to his death. He was aged 82 years, 8 months and 11 days.
Mr. McMullen was born April 11, 1864 near Peoria, a son of Mathew and Nancy Stewart McMullen. He was united in marriage to Sarah B. Danner, who preceded him more than 25 years ago.
Children surviving are Earl McMullen of Peoria; Ralph McMullen of Havana; Roy McMullen of Astoria; 22 grandchildren and 16 great grandchildren; also two sisters, Mrs. Ida O'Conner of Peoria and Mrs. Anna Roger of Norris, Ill.
Funeral services were held Tuesday afternoon at the Woodland Church of the Brethren, conducted by Rev. Fred Thompson. Burial in the Woodland cemetery.
