Alma S. Hicks, 3 weeks short of her 99th birthday, passed away at NHC of Oak Ridge on Thursday, March 22, 2012. Preceded in death by parents, Robert A.,Sr and Inez Smith; husband, Luther Hicks; 6 brothers and 4 sisters.

Survived by sister, Nana Belle Webber and sister-in-law, Appie Smith, both of Clinton and numerous nieces and nephews.
Alma was one of the oldest members of Valley View United Methodist Church in Claxton where she was president of Women's Society for several years. She was a member of Eastern Star and Claxton Home Demonstration Club in past years.
Alma and Luther had a grocery store for many years. She later worked for Turner's IGA in Claxton. Alma enjoyed cooking and baking, making many wedding cakes and cookies. She liked to crochet and make crafts. A heart felt Thank You to special friends, Betty Lynn and Ken and Jo Williams for all your help and care over the years.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggest memorial donations be made to Valley View United Methodist Church or Claxton Volunteer Fire Department.

The family will receive friends on Saturday, March 24, 2012 from 12-2pm at the Holley-Gamble Funeral Home with funeral service at 2:00PM with Dr. David Lord & Rev. Paige Wimberly officiating. Graveside service to follow at Sunset Cemetery. Holley-Gamble Funeral Home in Clinton is in charge of the arrangements. www.holleygamblefh.com
