Mr. Harry Glaston Bass, 84, of 603 Allen St., died Tuesday, January 3, 2012, at Sampson Regional Medical Center.
A memorial service was held at 2 PM, Saturday, January 7, 2012, at Grove Park Baptist Church, 609 Northeast Blvd., Clinton, with the Rev. Michael Shook officiating.
Mr. Bass was born August 24, 1927, in the Herring School community of Sampson County. His parents were the late Ammie and Annie Belle Herring Bass. Mr. Bass was retired after a sales career with R.W. Moore Equipment Co. of Raleigh. He sold John Deere logging, construction and land-clearing equipment and was the salesman for the company's eastern district, based in New Bern.
He was a member of Grove Park Baptist Church, where he served on the board of deacons and had been chairman of the church's Building and Grounds Committee. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army, having served in the Korean War.
He was preceded in death by a son, Nicky Lee Bass, who died in 2010.
