She was preceded in death by her son, Francis Tharp; her parents, Frank and Margaret Castelvecchi; and her sister, Hilda Bauserman.
She is survived by her husband of 51 years, Ellis Tharp; a son, Ray Tharp; a brother, Frank G. Castelvecchi "Sonny"; one niece and six nephews.
Peggy was an employee with Wood Equipment for 39 years. She was the past President of United Daughters of the Confederacy.
The family will receive friends from 1-2 p.m. on Friday, March 23, 2012, at Holy Cross Cemetery Chapel, 1628 Matthews St., Richmond, VA 23222; with service to follow at 2:00 p.m.
Interment will be at Holy Cross Cemetery.
