POMPANOOSUC --- Ralph A. Smith, 58, a native of Bradford, died at the Mary Hitchcock Memorial Hospital in Hanover Saturday after an illness of several months.
He was born Nov. 24, 1913, the son of Luther and Ellen (Bailey) Smith. He was a veteran of World War Two, having served in the United States Navy, and was a carpenter by trade.
He leaves his wife, Marion Stanley Smith of Pompanoosuc; four sons, Maj. Richard A. Smith of Chatham, Mass., Stanley R. Smith of Brewster, Mass., Larry A. Smith of South Strafford, Vt. and Wilfred E. Smith of East Burke, Vt. He also leaves two daughters, Mrs. Norma Tuttle of Hartford and Mrs. Joan Laro of Pompanoosuc; 21 grandchildren and one great-grandchild; 15 brothers and sisters and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held Tuesday at 2 p.m. in the Rand Funeral Home in Hanover. Burial will follow in the Union Village Cemetery. There will be no calling hours. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Heart Fund.
