Born in Greenville, he was the son of the late Bennie F. and Fay Banther, Sr.
He was a member of First Baptist Church in Simpsonville.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by two sons, Jamey and Joshua Chapman; three special daughters, Hope Hayes, Teanna Kerns, and Jenny Peelman; three grandchildren, Abigail, David, and Joshua T. Chapman; four sisters, Constance Williams, Rachel Boyer, Nancy Spain, and Pat Brown; and one brother, Henry H. Hewitt, Jr.
He was predeceased by three brothers and one sister.
Visitation will be held on Tuesday, March 20, 2012 from 11:30 a.m. – 1:15 p.m. at Thomas McAfee Funeral Home, Northwest, followed by the Funeral Service at 1:30 in the Chapel. Burial will take place at Graceland Cemetery, West.
The family will be at their respective homes.
