John (Johann) Abraham was born in Lubotzin, West Prussia (now Lubocino) and was baptized in Tyłowo Catholic parish. He came to the Chicago with his parents when he was five years old. He married Elizabeth Kowalski at St. Mary of the Angels Church in Chicago on 28 June 1911. They had five children: Rose, Henry, Agnes, Elizabeth, and John. John (Sr.) was a woodworker.
