"It was not until 1871 that Ashlawn again became the center of family life. At that time it was bought by Henry Zellner of Maury County. He had two daughters, both of whom married men who lived in the Brentwood area. Margaret Ophelia married David Lipscomb, teacher at Lipscomb School on Concord Road and founder of avid Lipscomb College. Another daughter, Mary Jane, married William Callender and lived at the railroad crossing on Concord Road. Henry Zellner died in 1879, and the farm passed on to his son, James Jr. For a number of years, his daughter Lucy taught a private school for neighboring children in the old brick office. James Zellner died in 1905, and Ashlawn was sold to Andrew Mizell, well-known Nashville wholesale grocer, and his wife Lucy Merrill Mizell."
