Sumter - Services for Juanita Smith White, 83, will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday at Trinity United Methodist Church with Dr. Robert Stillwell and the Rev. Phil Jones officiating. Burial will follow in Sumter Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 5-7 p.m. today at Elmore-Hill-McCreight Funeral Home and other times at the home, 6 Highland Ave. Memorials may be made to Trinity United Methodist Church, Camp Discovery, 208 Claude Bundrick Rd., Blythewood, SC 29016 or to a charity of one's choice. Mrs. White, widow of Harrison "Harry" James White, died Friday, March 7, 2003 at Covenant Place. Born in Summerville, she was a daughter of the late William Henry Smith and Floss Phillips Smith. Mrs. White was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church where she was a member of Circle #3, served as president of the United Methodist Women and served and as a Sunday School teacher. She was a master gardener and was former president of the Sumter Council of Garden Clubs, former president of the Iris Garden Club, a nationally accredited flower show judge and a nationally accredited landscape critic. She also taught classes in floral arranging. Surviving are sons, Harrison James "Jimmy" White Jr. and his wife, Ann, of Sumter and Frederick Larry White of Columbia; daughter, Nancy White Harward and husband, Richard, of High Point, N.C.; grandchildren, Harrison James "Jim" White III and his wife, Elizabeth, of Sumter, Holly Harward Yandle and her husband, Marc, of Winston-Salem, N.C., Zachary Harrison Harward of Chapel Hill, N.C. and Jeramy Shannon White of Columbia; great-grandchild, Christina Ann White. © The State, Columbia, SC, 10 Mar 2003
