Rhoda Harding Allen, 78, of Provo, died of a lingering illness this morning at the Phillips Nursing Home, Provo.
She was born March 4, 1896 in Provo to Jesse E. and Mary Emma Scott Harding. She married William Kirby Allen on Aug. 19, 1914 in the Salt Lake LDS Temple, and he died Sept. 27, 1962.
She received her early schooling in Vineyard school and lived in Vineyard after her marriage since her husband was a farmer there. They moved to Great Falls, Mont., in 1934 and to Provo in 1937. Mr. Allen worked at Geneva Steel Co.
Active in the LDS Church, Mrs. Allen was Relief Society work director. She sang with various choruses and groups.
Survivors include four sons and six daughters: Kenneth H. Allen, Great Falls; Jesse Kirby Allen, York, Pa.; Shirley H. Allen, Reston, Va.; Ronald J. Allen and Mrs. Ray (Mary) Downs, both of Orem; Mrs. Ivo (Neola) Hallows, Corning, Calif.; Mr. Ted (Eva) Halladay, Provo; Mrs. Glen (June) Nelson, Las Vegas; Mrs. Dwayne (LaRae) Lowry, Boston, and Mrs. Pat (Carol) Gollinger, Kearns; 38 grandchildren; 33 great-grandchildren; four brothers and one sister, Raymond Harding, Wesley Harding, Roland Harding and Owen Harding, all of Vineyard, and Mrs. Violet Zabriskie, Provo.
Funeral services will be Monday at 11 a.m. in the Vineyard Ward Chapel. Friends may call at Berg Mortuary, Orem, 500 N. State St., Sunday from 6 to 8 p.m. and at the chapel Monday prior to services. Burial will be in Timpanogos Memorial Gardens, Orem.
