A funeral service celebrating the life of Ruth Beckham Boney, 89, of Columbia will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Sunday, March 18, at Eau Claire Baptist Church, conducted by The Reverend James Goudelock and The Reverend Kelly Strum. Burial will follow at Sandy Level Baptist Church Cemetery on Blythewood Road in Blythewood, SC. The family will receive friends from 1:20-2:30 p.m. at the church prior to the service.
Mrs. Boney peacefully entered the Kingdom of Heaven on Wednesday, March 14, 2012. She was predeceased by her loving husband of 41 years, Joseph Earl Boney. Born November 22, 1922, she was the last of eleven children of the late George Robert and Kate Sherrill Beckham. She was predeceased by her ten siblings: Carrie Beckham, Annie Blackmon, Lewis Beckham, Kitty Mae Lever, Tom Beckham, Madelyn Andrews, James Beckham, Maggie Beckham, Janet Friday, and Kathryn Boney. She was also predeceased by her dear, special friend, Joe Wooten.
She was a loving homemaker and nurturer of her family throughout her life. A devoted member of Eau Claire Baptist Church for over 60 years, she served her Lord and her church family in many capacities. After over 50 happy years in her home in Eau Claire, she enjoyed her last nine years at Forest Pines Retirement Residence.
Mrs. Boney is survived by her daughters Joanne Ross (Gayle) of Charlotte, NC, and Elaine Cope (Jerry) of Winnsboro, SC; granddaughter Deedee Warlick (Randy) of Charlotte, NC; grandsons Heath Cope (Terry) of Lancaster, SC, Joseph Cope (Amy) of Irmo, SC, and Trim Cope of Winnsboro, SC; great-grandchildren Kurstin Cope, Morgan Cope, Will Warlick, Madelyn Warlick, Vicki Boling, Trystan Tingberg, Alexis Tingberg, and Tucker Cope; great-great-grandchild, Kennedi Boling; and many nieces and nephews.
The family extends special appreciation to Phyllis Aldrich and the staff of Forest Pines as well as her devoted caregivers, Ida Armour, Betty Diggs, and Faye Belton, for their loving, compassionate care of their mother.
