BLYTHEWOOD - Funeral service for Mr. James Simpson Beckham, 87, will be held at 2 p.m. Monday, February 14, 2000 at Oak Grove United Methodist Church, conducted by the Reverend Mary Greene Kearse and the Reverend Diana Westerkam. Interment will be in the church cemetery. Pallbearers will be his grandchildren and nephew, James Foster Beckham, Troy M. Beckham, Tony L. Beckham, Micahel S. Beckham II, Mark S. Beckham, Kelly Ann Beckham, and Thomas Richard Beckham Jr. Visitation will be 5-6 tonight at Shives Funeral Home. Memorials may be made to Oak Grove United Methodist Church, 8515 Winnsboro Rd., Blythewood, SC 29016.
Mr. Beckham died Friday, February 11, 2000 at Providence Hospital. Born in Richland County, he was the son of the late George Robert Beckham and Katie Sherrill Beckham. Mr. Beckham was a member of Oak Grove United Methodist Church and the Adult Sunday School class. He retired from Andrews Auto Service following 40 years of service.
Surviving are his wife, Clara Smith Beckham; son, Michael S. Beckham of Lancaster; daughter-in-law, Sylvia T. Beckham of Winnsboro; six grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; sisters, Mrs. Kathryn Boney, Mrs Ruth Boney, of Columbia. He was predeceased by his son, Mr. James S. Beckham Jr.
