Moroni was the son of Mary Ellen Shaffer (1848-1928) and Richard Jessop (1838-1899).

Moroni married Bertha Obray Jackson on June 24, 1903 in Logan, Cache County, Utah. Bertha was born on November 23, 1883 in Paradise, Cache County, Utah and died on March 29, 1964 in Provo, Utah County, Utah.

Moroni Jessop, 77, 741-8th East, died Friday at 4:30 a.m. in a Salt Lake hospital of gangrene of the left leg and pneumonia.

A son of Richard and Mary Ellen Shaffer Jessop, he was born in Millville, Cache County, Nov. 3, 1874.

After a divorce from his first wife, Bertha Jackson Jessop, he married Elva Olson Sept. 11, 1918, in Preston, Ida.

Survivors include his widow; nine sons and daughters; Mrs. Kathleen Jeffs, James B. Jessop, Mrs. Reva Gunderson, Mrs. Genevieve Mora, Iris Jessop and Michael R. Jessop, Salt Lake City; Naomi Van Valkenberg and Moroni Jackson Jessop, Los Angeles, and Lt. Jesse R. Jessop, USAF, Korea; 12 grandchildren, one great-grandchild, and the following brothers and sisters; Joseph Jessop, Short Creek, Ariz; Mrs. Orson Pitkin, Los Angeles; Mrs. Ella Bailey, Mrs. George Cummins and Mrs. William Saurey, Logan; Mrs. Agnes Butler, Salt Lake City, Parley and Alma Jessop, Millville, and Mrs. Royce Hill, Roxbury, Mass.

Funeral services will be conducted Tuesday noon at 260 E. South Temple, where friends may call Monday from 5 to 8 p.m. and Tuesday prior to noon.

Burial will be in Salt Lake City Cemetery.
