Alman Jessop was a native of Millville, the son of Richard and Jeanette Shaffer Jessop. He received his education in Millville School. In addition to farming, he worked for many years at the rock quarry in Providence Canyon. He was an honest, upright man, well thought of by his neighbors and friends.

On June 29, 1922, he married Agnes Mason, the daughter of Frank and Emaline Maloney Mason. Her father was killed in a coal mine accident when she was only a year old. Her mother remarried but died while Agnes was very young. She came to Providence with her stepfather and worked for many years for the Mathews family.

Agnes was a loving wife and mother. Though her home was humble, she kept it spotless. She had a happy disposition and was always thoughtful of those in need. In 1943, they moved to Ogden where Alma was employed at the Ogden Supply Depot. They moved again in 1953 to Whittier, California, where they lived with their son. Agnes died July 29,1963.

They were the parents of two children: Alta (Elmo Jessop) and Alma Darel (Sherrill Johnson).
