Douglas Berry, 85, of Weatherford passed away Monday, March 12, 2012 at home with his family. Douglas was born January 28, 1927 in Texhoma, Oklahoma to Lee Augustus and Erous Johnson Berry.

Douglas was a barber as a young man. He enjoyed an active lifestyle; camping with his young family and competing in weight lifting competitions. He joined the United State Armed Forces, was assigned to the signal corp. and participated in the occupation of Japan in the early days of World War II.

Back in the states and as a civilian he worked for the Bureau of Mines. He was a self taught man, an avid reader and a quiet soul. He so enjoyed time with family, kids and grandkids who affectionately named him Pa Bear due to the snoring sounds he made at nap time.

Survivors include his wife, Patricia Ann Berry; daughter, Nancy Berry Bohn (Carol) of Weatherford Texas; sons, Stanley Berry (Duane) of Fort Worth, Steven Berry (Larry) of Allen Texas and Mark Berry (Alan) of Tulsa Oklahoma; sisters, Marlene Overstreet of Texhoma Oklahoma and Yvonne Elliott of Amarillo Texas; brothers, Larry Joe Berry of Texhoma Oklahoma and George David Berry of Weatherford Texas; six grandchildren and 7 great grandchildren and one on the way.
