GULFPORT - Mrs. Janie Price Hewes, 89, of Gulfport, died Saturday, December 19, 1998, in Gulfport.

Mrs. Hewes was born in Gulfport and had been a lifelong resident of Gulfport. She was a member of St. John's Catholic Church. Mrs. Hewes was a school teacher in the Gulfport School System for many years.

She was the widow of William G. Hewes, judge of the Chancery Court of Harrison, Stone and Hancock counties. She was also preceded in death by her parents, Dr. and Mrs. A.J. Price.

Survivors include three sons, William G. Hewes Jr. and Charles P. Hewes, both of Gulfport, and Francis Andrew Hewes of Houston, TX; a sister, Mrs. Frances Bradford and a brother, Dr. Andrew J. Price Jr., both of Gulfport; six grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.

Visitation was Monday evening at Bradford-O'Keefe Funeral Home, Gulfport. Rosary was be recited. The funeral mass will be today at 10 a.m. at St. John's Catholic Church where friends may call one hour before the mass. Interment will be in Evergreen Cemetery.
