Leland was an identical twin of Lloyd and was born to Jacob S. Chupp and Wanda Irene Toliver. He had an older brother and two older sisters and 1 younger sister. One older sister preceded him in death at 15 years old. He married Maxine and they had one son later in life named Jim. Leland's wife preceded him in death. He died in a Nursing Home in Indiana. His funeral was held at Yoder-Culp Funeral Home in Goshen Indiana.

GOSHEN -- Leland Chupp, 81, formerly of 210 S. 23rd St., died at 12:20 a.m. Monday (Aug. 22, 2005) at Lakeland Healthcare, Milford.

He was born Sept. 23, 1923, in Goshen to Jacob and Wanda (Toliver) Chupp. He married Maxine Long on Feb. 27, 1946. She died in 1978.

Survivors include a son, James L. Chupp of Goshen; and a sister, Gladys Cripe of Goshen.

Two sisters, Virginia Leatherman and Irene Chupp, and two brothers, Clarence and Lloyd Chupp, preceded him in death.

Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. today at Yoder-Culp Funeral Home, 1911 S. Main St., where services will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday. The Rev. Alan Griffin of First Presbyterian Church will officiate. Burial will be in Elkhart Prairie Cemetery, with military honors conducted by members of Disabled American Veterans, Veterans of Foreign Wars and the American Legion. Condolences may be sent online at yoderculpfuneralhome.com.

Mr. Chupp, who attended Goshen Schools, was a self-employed woodworker at Long's Wood Craft in Goshen. He was a member of First Presbyterian Church, the Masonic Lodge and the Goshen VFW and DAV. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army, having served in World War II.

Memorials may be given to the American Cancer Society.
