Services for Jackson Woody Bownds, 83, were held Monday, Nov. 29, 2010, at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Thorndale with Rev. James Mann officiating. Burial was in St. Paul Cemetery.

Mr. Bownds died Friday, Nov. 26, 2010 at Richards Memorial Hospital.

He was born Oct. 15, 1927, in Milam County to Ira Jack and Annie Belle (Waters) Bownds.

Mr. Bownds was business manager and accountant for Richards Hospital and Clinic in Rockdale for many years, retiring in 1986.

He had been a Thorndale resident for the past 35 years and was formally of Rockdale.

He married Gladys M. (Rannefeld) Simank in 1975 in Thorndale.

Mr. Bownds was a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church in Thorndale.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Gladys M. Bownds, on March 19, 2004; three brothers, Mode, Bud and Olain Edger Bownds; two sisters, Nona Jackson and Myrtie Jackson; and his parents.

Survivors are two stepsons, three step-grandchildren, a step-great-grandchild, and two sisters.
