Funeral Services For Charles Burns
Funeral services for Charles E. Burns who was killed in an automobile accident yesterday morning were held at the Lang Chapel this afternoon at 2:30 o'clock with Rev P. S. Dodge pastor of Grace Memorial Church officiating. Burial was in Evergreen Cemetery.
Mr Burns was born in Florence Miss January 19 1878. He came to Gulfport about 42 years ago and had been a resident since that time. He was chief of the Fire department for several years and also served as a police officer Since the beginning of governmental agencies in Gulfport. Mr. Burns had superintended construction work and at the time of of his death was superintendent of WPA work.
He is survived by his wife Mrs Eula Burns; two sons, B. W. and Ralph B. Burns; a daughter Mrs. Thelma Sharp, residents of Gulfport; two brothers, R. O. Burns of Jackson and J. W. Burns of Gulfport, three sisters Mrs J. G. Salley Gulfport Mrs. Ben Wright Voto Texas and Mrs Tom Cruthirds Crossett Ark. and three grandchildren.
