Robert Oscar "Pete" Burns, 79, of Florence, died Saturday night at his home after a long illness.
Burns, a native and life long resident of Florence, was member of the First Baptist Church of Jackson and a member of the Woodman of the World. He formerly was employed as a foreman at Enochs Lumber Company and later Allen Mill Work, and had retired two years ago due to illness.
He is survived by his wife, the former Edner Morgan; three sisters, Mrs. Ola Cruthirds. Mountain Home, Ark., Mrs. Lola Wright, Tibideaux, La., and Mrs. Lela Salley, of Pascagoula; and a number of nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be at 2 p. m. Monday from the chapel of Wright & Ferguson with the Rev. N. R. Bradley, pastor of the Florence Baptist Church, officiating. Interment will be in , the Florence Cemetery.
