Andrew was the son of John Putman and Charlotte King. He married Judith Slater, and they were the parents of Clarissa, Haman, Selecta, and Dr. Winfield Clark.

Died at the age of 75 years, 7 days.

Mr. Putman came West with his parents when he was two years of age, locating in the woods, and remained there until his marriage, being brought up as pioneer children were, and taught the use of the ax, and how to clear land. On September 28, 1837, he was married to Judith Slater who was born June 23, 1920 in Somerset County, Pennsylvania, she being the youngest of a family of fifteen children, all of whom lived to maturity and raised families except two. Her parents were natives of Fayette County, Pennsylvania, but removed to Tuscarawas County ... Her parents were of Presbyterian faith, her father being a Whit. Mr. Putman located on Section 15 where he lived until 1862, since which time he has been located at Justus Station and engaged in farming. Of five children born, but three are living - Haman, Winfield C. and Selecta (wife of Daniel Hoffman). clarris, the eldest, eide age 27 (wife of William McClintock.) Mr. Putman was a member of the United Brethren
and served as class leader, steward, trustee and is one of the pillars of the church.
