Julia is the daughter of Gordon Claude and Lousia "May" Mandeville (Truitt)Burgess. One of six children. Her line is a direct decendant of Capt Edward Burgess of Revolutionary War fame. She met Christopher Neill in Georges Creek, Lawrence Co., Kentucy. They were married in the Burgess Chapel on December 22 1863. Together they raised seven children, five daughters and two sons, most of which moved west to Kansas with their families and the parents of Christopher.
