Father of Anna, Malcolm, Millard, Samuel, Charles, Jennie, George, Julia, Allen, and Edgar Burgess.

Note: Per Autie C. Burgess, nephew of George T. Burgess, George was with General Garfield's (later President Garfield) Army when it went into winter quarters at the mouth of Georges Creek. Around the latter part of January they started to Virginia. Per Autie, right before they reached Paintsville, a courier announced that the Rebels were coming. They fought on the steep hillside facing the creek. Later George was part of General Sherman's March To The Sea.

George served in the Cival War-39th KY, Co. G.

Cause of death was Typhoid Fever.
