Edith Florence Anderson, 93, of Lexington, formerly of Cynthiana, Kentucky, died Thursday, March 2, 2006, at St. Joseph Hospital in Lexington. She was born in Boyle County on November 28, 1912, to the late Luther Otis and Juanita Dimmitt Hundley Florence. She was a 1937 graduate of Asbury College and had been a substitute teacher. Mrs. Anderson was a member of the Methodist Church, a member and soloist of the Methodist Church choir, a member of the Bird Lebus and Etta Ammerman Circle and a member of the United Methodist Women. She was a former member of the Women's Club of Harrison County, Buena Vista Homemakers, past president of the Lexington District United Methodist Women, the Barbourville United Methodist Women and past Vice President of the Maysville United Methodists Women and the National Assembly of Women's Society of Christian Services of the United Methodist Church.

Mrs. Anderson was preceded in death by: her husband, Dr. Robert L. Anderson; two grandchildren, Mark Anthony Bowling and Misty Dawn Anderson; two brothers, Lannes Strickland Florence and James Morton Florence; and two sisters, Edna Marquerite Florence and Bertie Mae Florence Springman. Survivors include: two sons, Robert Fletcher Anderson and his wife, Phyllis, of Cynthiana, and William Arthur Anderson, III, and his wife, Bibby, of Winchester; three daughters, Mrs. LuNeita Johnson and Mrs. Dean A. Brothers, both of Lexington, and Mrs. Lee Withers Bowling of London; nine grandchildren, Marcy Anderson Clary, Heather Boone, Anne Anderson, Scott Anderson, Susan Brothers, Perry B. Sheraw, William Elton Johnson, II, and Wesley E. Johnson; and several great-grandchildren.

Services were conducted Wednesday, March 8, at the First United Methodist Church in Cynthiana, with burial in Battle Grove Cemetery. Memorials may be made to the Wesley Village of Wilmore, 1125 Lexington Road, Wilmore, KY 40390. Pallbearers were BobPollock, Jim Pollock, Wesley Johnson, William Elton Johnson, II, Scott Anderson, Paul Wilson, Warren Rees Wilson and Bill Johnson. Honorary pallbearers were Russell Whalen, Charles Ray Cooper, Charles C. McCarty, Jr., Clyde Steckle, Oren Long, Ben Mellott and Holton Harrison.
