Ina Catherine Hatch Thompson, age 83, passed away October 19, 2007 in Salt Lake City.She was born February 28, 1924 in Hinckley, Utah a daughter of Ina Porter and Lorenzo Hill Hatch. She married Douglas N. Thompson December 26, 1951 in the Salt Lake Temple. She graduated from the University of Utah with honors, but also spent time studying at the University of Denver and the Sorbonne in Paris. She was a member of the Phi Beta Kappa Honorary Society. After graduating she taught at Brigham Young University. Her passions in life were her family and travel. After her children were grown she worked for Murdock Travel for many years. She planned and escorted tours throughout the world including China, India, South America, and the Holy Land. She was always happiest when planning her next trip. She faithfully served the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in the Relief Society, Young Women and Primary organizations. Her current and one of her favorite callings was as a Primary Achievement Day leader. She loved to study and learn. She was a member of Authors Club, Daughters of Utah Pioneers, and Alpha Chi Omega. Catherine is survived by her husband; children, Catherine Anne Kaonohi (Godfrey) of Kaneohe, Hawaii, Mary Lynne Thompson of Salt Lake City, and Robert D. Thompson (Becky) of Bountiful. She is also survived by seven grandchildren, four great-grandchildren, and two dogs. She was preceded in death by her parents; brothers, L. Wayne Hatch, Hyrum P. Hatch, and Robert L. Hatch. Funeral services will be held 12 noon Wednesday, October 24, 2007 at the Emigration Stake Center, 589 18th Avenue. Friends may call Tuesday, October 23, from 6-8 p.m. at Larkin Mortuary, 260 E.
