===========================
In March 1895, Mr. and Mrs. U.G. Earp moved to Bussey, Iowa buying the house at 4th and Edwward Street. At that time they were the parents of five children, the youngest a baby two months old who passed away July 4, 1895. Being almost strangers in the community Mr. and Mrs. Earp marveled at the respect and sympathy shown them in their sorrow. Not a firecracker was shot in Bussey that 4th of July. Two years later Forrest was born and four years later Anna was born. They resided in the same house ,with some improvements, throughtout the remainder of their years. The house has now been remodeled and is occupied by Mr. and Mrs. Cliff Bolton. Mr. Earp operated a small general store located on the same lot with the house. He ran a huckster wagon through the country four days a week. These routes were organized and families in the country depended on him for their needs. Farm wives declared they oculd set their clocks by his arrival. Mr. Earp enjoyed this work and his customers became his closest friends. On the 4th of July, his yard would be filled with their "teams" in the barn. After 45 years Mr. Earp retired at the age of 75. Mr. and Mrs. Earp belonged to the M.P. Church and served actively in the work of the Lord as long as their health permitted. Mr. Earp passed away June 1, 1944 and Mrs. Earp on March 17, 1954. Anna, now Mrs. Clark, is the only family member living. She lives in Madred [Bussey Centennial, Bussey, Iowa 1875-1975, p.152]
