Serena Herriman Grace Mitchell, age 92 of Jackson, TN, passed away on March 8, 2012 in Jackson.
She was born on January 14, 1920 in Toone, TN to the late George M. and Annie Wiggins Herriman. She married Wesley Grace on June 30, 1941 and he passed away on December 15, 1976. Serena married Johnnie A. Mitchell on May 26, 1979 and he passed away on December 15, 1992. She was a member of Calvary Baptist Church and the Mary Martha Sunday School Class.
Serena is survived by her sons, Wesley G. Grace, Jr. and wife Brenda, and James Clark Mitchell and wife Jennie; her daughters, Carolyn Scott and husband Garney, Jr., and Alice Arnett and husband Jerry Laster; her grandchildren, James Wesley Grace, Chuck Arnett, Jeff Arnett, Garney Scott III, Andrea Pennington, Susanne Heavner, Janna Friend, John Mitchell and Robert Mitchell; and 15 great- grandchildren.
She was also preceded in death by two sisters, Birdie Pratt and Lorene Canovan, and five brothers, Oscar, Earl, Leonard, Lester and George Herriman.
Visitation will be held on Sunday, March 11, 2012 from 11 a.m. until the funeral service held at 2 p.m., all held at George A. Smith and Sons North Chapel, with Grant Gaines officiating. Burial will follow in Highland Memorial Gardens.
