Jane met and married William Johnson September 22, 1878 at Mercer, Adams County, Iowa. William was previously married and had four children. The 1880 Waveland Township, Pottowattamie County, Iowa Census lists: William Johnson, age 32, born in England; Jane A, age 25, born in Pennsylvania; Eliza E, 9; Emma May, 7; Anna M, 5; and John, 4, all children were born in Illinois.

According to the 1901 Red Deer, Alberta, The Territories, Canada Census William and Jane moved their family to Canada in 1899. It lists William Johnson, 53, born May 23, 1847; Jane A, 46, born March 1, 1854; George, 18, born July 27, 1883; Dolly, 16, born March 6, 1885; Nelly, 14, born May 11, 1886; Bessie 13, May 15, 1887; and Florence, 12, born December 25, 1888. The family is of the Baptist faith.

Jane and William had eleven children together. At the time of her death, five of them had died. The surviving living children were: Mrs. IE Freese, Lander Wyoming; Mrs. EC (Emma May) McKelvey, Wolbach, Nebraska; Mrs. Anna Imiss, Caldwell, Idaho; JW Johnson, Elba, Nebraska; Mrs. W Green, Harmony, Nebraska; Jesse M Johnson, Havelock, Nebraska; Mrs. Charles A (Dolly) Armstrong, Kimberly, Idaho; Mrs. SA Armstrong, Brawley, California; Mrs. John Mikkelson, Seattle, Washington; and Nellie Johnson, Beatrice, Nebraska.

"She became a Christain about 15 years ago. She was a kind and loving wife and mother and loved by all who knew her. She was a great sufferer, but bore it patiently until God sailed her to a better land.

Funeral services were conducted at the home by Rev. WG Hamilton, pastor of the UE church at Elba. Interment at Cedar Rapids, Nebraska.
