Mrs. Rebecca Tope, widow of the late Dr. Jasper Tope, died Monday afternoon at her home in Algonquin, following a stroke of Paralysis which she had the Saturday previous to her death. Burial was made at Mt. Pleasant on Wednesday afternoon.
The age of the deceased was about 85. She was married to Dr. Jasper Tope on October 22, 1857, and this grand old couple lived to celebrate the 65th anniversary of their marriage. Dr. Tope died March 9, 1923. No children were born to Dr. and Mrs. Tope, but two nieces were taken into their home and reared to womanhood, Mrs. Florence Hess Widder of Akron and Mrs. Margaret Tope Jewel of Chicago.
