Ray Grant, age 75 years, of 222 Hwy 768 East Columbia, KY (the Glens Fork Community) passed away Friday, May 16, 2008 at the Russell County Hospital after several months illness.
He was the son of the late Wellie Vernon and Suzie Blair Grant of Adair County, KY.
Survived by his wife, Janell Helm Grant of Glensfork, KY; two sons, Michael Ray Grant and his wife Sylvia of Columbia, KY, Mark Lee Grant and his wife Jill of Mt. Washington, KY; four daughters, Joan Knopp and husband Ronnie of Columbia, KY, Gina Grant and husband Doug of Columbia, KY, Robin Grant of Columbia, KY, Kimberly Franklin and husband William of Columbia, KY; two brothers, Paul Grant of Lexington, KY and Jack Grant of Russell Springs, KY; four sisters, Dolly Andrew of Columbia, KY, Mary Hadley of Cundiff, KY, Mae Hadley of Jamestown, KY and Fay Bradshaw of Columbia, KY; 11 grandchildren, Ashley Adamson, Mandy Grant, Matthew Grant, McKenzie Grant, Treyton Grant, Sarah Grant, Austin Grant, Channing Grant, Shelby Grant, Rachel Grant, Ian Scott Grant; 2 great grandchildren, Gracin Adamson, Grant Adamson; 2 step grandchildren, John and J. J. Knopp.
He was preceded in death by one brother, Robert "Bud" Grant and by two sisters, Dorothy Gibson and Dimple Grant.
Mr. Grant was a member of the Cornerstone Freewill Baptist Church and a truck driver.
Funeral service was held Monday, May 19, 2008 at 2:00 PM at Stotts-Phelps-McQueary Funeral Home with Rev. Vernon Luttrell and Rev. Sam Warner officiating.
Interment in the Grant Cemetery at Glens Fork, KY.
Pallbearers were Melvin Antle, Matthew Grant, McKenzie Grant, Ivan Greer, Bobby Mitchum, Alvin Spoon.
