Arleigh Manford Acker, 88, retired Wiota farmer and trucker, died Friday at his home in Wiota.
The son of Thaddeus W. and Ida Elizabeth Noyer Acker, he was born July 8, 1892, five miles southeast of Atlantic and lived his entire life in Cass County, except for two years when he managed a creamery at Alta.
Mr. Acker retired from farming and trucking in 1959 and moved to Wiota. He was married to Joy E. Wissler and was later married to Jessie Wissler Kennedy. He was a member of the Wiota United Methodist Church and the Odd Fellows Lodge.
Surviving are a daughter ... a stepdaughter ... five grandchildren ... five great-grandchildren ... Three stepgranddaughters ... three brothers, Clifton of Camdenton, Mo., Leroy and Clarence, both of Atlantic; and a number of nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his first wife, Joy, who died in 1955; his second wife, Jessie, who died in 1980; a son, Marvin, who died in 1952; his parents; a brother, Clayton, who died in 1977; and a sister, Abbie Kitchen, who died in 1963.
The funeral service will be held ... Monday ... Burial will be in the Atlantic Cemetery ...
