William H Daniels, 76 of Grinnell, stepfather of George and Leighton C Buck of State Center, passed away Thursday, December 15 in Montezuma. He had been in declining health for some time.

Prayer services were held Monday morning at ten o'clock at the Smith Funeral Home in Grinnell followed by graveside rites at 1 p.m. at Hillside cemetery in State Center. The Rev Kenneth Pease, pastor of the First Presbyterian church here officiated.

Mr Daniels was born January 4, 1884, in Abilene, Kansas, and grew up next door to the boyhood home of President Dwight D Eisenhower.

He was united in marriage to Olive Beatty Buck of Kansas City, Missouri, in 1910, then came to the Lamoille area to farm until 1935 when the couple moved to a farm near Grinnell. Mrs Daniels passed away in 1957.

He is survived by two children, Hugh of Orange, California and Mrs Dorothy Reubenbauer of Monterey Park, California; also six step children, Ralph Buck of Dundurn, Sask., Canada, George and Leighton Buck of State Center, Mrs Maxine Hindt of Monterey Park, California, Mrs Norma Corbin of Nevada and Mrs Zell Benson of Grinnell. A sister and a brother in California and a sister in Kansas also survive.
