A celebration of Tom's life will be at 10:00 a.m. Tuesday, March 6, 2012 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Sauk Rapids for Thomas E. Anderson, age 81, who passed away Friday at the St. Cloud Hospital surrounded by family. Rev. Ronald Weyrens and Rev. Al Stangl will officiate and burial will be in the parish cemetery. Friends and family may call from 4-8 p.m. Monday at Williams Dingmann Family Funeral Home, Sauk Rapids and one hour prior to the services Tuesday at the church. Parish prayers will be at 6:30 p.m. Monday at the funeral home.
Tom was born Dec. 13, 1930 in Sauk Rapids to John & Mary (Eizenhoefer) Anderson. He married Alice D. Gohman on June 24, 1954 in St. Augusta. Tom worked at Cold Spring Granite, DeZurik's, St. Regis Paper Co., Benton County Water Patrol, Ron's Cabinets, and he also farmed. He was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church. Tom enjoyed trips to the casino, polka and waltz dancing, gardening tomatoes, growing GRANDPA'S PUMPKIN PATCH, deer hunting, horseshoes, working at the Benton County Fair, and listening to polka music. He was a soft hearted, fun loving, caring, compassionate, and very sociable person with a great sense of humor.
Survivors include his wife, Alice of 57 years, Sauk Rapids; daughters and son, Margaret "Peg" (DonLee) Beckstrand of Litchfield, Elizabeth "Betty" (John) Packert of Sauk Rapids, Christine (Roger) Carstensen of Sauk Rapids, Jacqueline (Thomas) Notch of Luxemburg, Shelley (Kelly) O'Hara of St. Cloud, Thomas (Lisa) Anderson of Rice; sister and brothers, Jeanette Kaufman of Waite Park, James Anderson of Sauk Rapids, and Floyd (Theodora) Anderson of St. Paul; sisters-in-law, Luella Anderson of Minneapolis and Louise Anderson of St. Cloud; 23 grandchildren, Amy, Kurt, Angie, Mandy, Emily, Alex, William, Robert, David, Katie, Allison, Bryan, Eric, Aaron, Tyler, Drew, Rilie, Maggie, Cole, Spencer, Rilee, Ashley, and Miranda; 5 great grandchildren, Benjamin, Jack, Shyla, Mason, and Elee; and his dog, Pepsi. Tom was preceded in death by his parents; son, Robert; brothers, LeRoy, Lloyd, John and Ray; brother-in-law, Julius Kaufman; sisters-in-law, Elene Anderson and Irene Anderson; and grandson, Garett O'Hara.
