He joined the Air Force in 1942, and was shot down over Austria; he was lucky to bail out before the plane exploded. He spent over a year as a POW in Germany, and returned home when Germany surrendered. He went to the Philippines to finish the war, and had an honorable discharge from the U.S. Air Force in 1947.
Albert worked in various jobs until he retired in San Diego. He made a home with sisters Wanda and Dixie and nephew Dan. Albert is survived by two sisters, Wanda and Rita, his nephew Dan Crockett and niece Sandy Gowder.
Military Honors Service will be at Fort Rosecrans National Cemetery, May 8th at 9:00 a.m.
