Frederick David "Fred" Broeker, 86, of Bolivar, Missouri, died at 5:40 a.m. Wednesday, December 31, 2003, in Citizens Memorial Hospital in Bolivar.
Born June 23, 1917, in Yarmouth, he was the son of Edward and Amy Mae Michaels Broeker. On July 7, 1940, he married Mable McVey.
Mr. Broeker was a York Rite Mason and a member for 45 years of the Ironworkers Local No. 577 in Burlington. He was also a member of the Mount Gilead United Methodist Church and church board member, the Polk County Senior Center Board treasurer and received the Lance Award for Volunteerism with the Southwest Missouri Office on Aging.
Survivors include his wife; one daughter, Deanna Vensland of Davenport; three sons, Tony Broeker of New London, David Broeker of Pekin, Illinois, and Michael Broeker of Carrollton, Texas; seven grandchildren; two step-grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; and other relatives.
Services were January 3 in Butler Funeral Home Chapel, with the Reverend Harold Hendrickson officiating. Burial was in Mount Gilead Cemetery south of Bolivar.
