Samuel Morticia Cook is the son of Ira Cook and Malinda Elizabeth Craig. He is their second child and the second of their three sons.

He is the grandson to Mordecia Hanes Cook & Mary Scott Cook and John Walter Craig & Rhoda Mullins Craig.

He is the brother of John David and David Stewart.

He married Lillie Mae Sutterfield in Fall City, Nebraska.

He is the father of Walter, Ruth, Hazel, Robert, two living sons, and one living daughter.

He died in Oceano, California and is entombed in Greenlawn Cemetery in Bakersfield, California.

Sam liked to drink whiskey and smoke cigars. He worked for Richfield Oil Company and later he and his wife Lillie moved to Grover City, CA and opened a cafe called "Sam's Chowder Bowl". He did all the customer service and Grandma Cook did all the cooking. He was quite a character!
