Wayne Bazemore, 66, of Sylvania, passed away Sunday evening at University Hospital, surrounded by his family. He was born in Sylvania to the late Audice Maria Sasser and Causey Joseph Bazemore. He was a member of Little Horse Creek Baptist Church and was a retired US Postal mail carrier, having worked for 28 years. He was an avid outdoorsman who loved to hunt, fish and tend his garden. He was preceded in death by his sons, Joseph Wayne Bazemore and Stanley Wayne Bazemore Jr.; a brother, Hubert J. Bazemore; and a brother-in-law, Lamar Saxon.
He is survived by his wife, Sybil Stepherson Bazemore; two daughters and sons-in-law, April and Mark Counts and Allison and Michael Sturdivant; a sister, Betty B. Saxon, all of Sylvania; grandchildren, Kayla Counts and Josh Patrick, Will Counts, Brody Sturdivant and Allianne Sturdivant.
The funeral service will be held Wednesday, February 15, 2012, at 3 p.m. in the Screven Chapel of Joiner-Anderson Funeral Home with the Rev. David Buie and the Rev. Ralph Dixon Jr. officiating. Interment will follow in Screven County Memorial Cemetery. Joiner-Anderson Funeral Home, Screven Chapel, is in charge of all arrangements.
