Ray Bradshaw, long time resident of Denton, went home to be with his lord and savior on Wednesday, February 29, 2012 following a very brief illness.

Born January 30, 1922 in Proffitt, Young County, Texas to Ambrous Hill Bradshaw and Callie D (Fickling ) Bradshaw. He was raised in Proffitt and attended the four-room school there. He went to high school in Newcastle Texas.

He left the as a young recruit to the Civilian Conversation Corps at age 16 and was assigned to a project in Wyoming where he began his education as a builder. It was at this time his interest was sparked in woodworking. Following the disbandment or the CCS he returned to Texas to work in the war effort at Consolidated Aircraft and attend Southwestern Assemblies of God College in Waxahachie.

He joined the army in 1944, later serving in occupied Japan on General Doolittle's staff in Tokyo. While in Japan, he was involved with the GI Gospel Hour ministries and the foundation of several fledgling churches helping to spread Gods word through Japan. After discharge he returned home to marry his high school sweet heart Mary Lynn Neal in Newcastle on June 30, 1947. They then moved to Denton where she was attending NTSC.

He was a member of First Assembly of God from the 1940s until the 1960s when he was one of the founders of University Assembly of God in Denton. He joined the Lindsey Street Assembly of God in 1971. He was a Sunday school teacher and served in many other positions in the church over the years. Mr. Bradshaw had a perfect Sunday school attendance record of near 70 years.

He began his local career as a cabinet builder in 1947 for Hank Clearman later opening his own shop Christian Brothers Builder. He also worked for the City planing mill in the mid 60s. After his retirement he has been involved with Bradshaw salvage and the Bradshaw Companies enjoying his lifelong passions of collecting "stuff" and reading his bible.

He was preceded in death by his dear wife Mary (June 14, 1994), his mother, and father, and his 16 siblings. He is survived his son Kevin Bradshaw of Denton, nieces, nephews, and a host of friends whom will feel a vacant spot in their life with his passing.

Visitation will be Friday, March 2, at DeBerry Funeral Home. His funeral and celebration of life will be Saturday, March 3 at 3:00 pm at Cooper Creek Methodist Church, 5209 Mingo Road in Denton. Committal will follow at Cooper Creek Cemetery. Those wishing to speak on the impact he has had on your life will be encouraged to do so.
