RAMSEY - Dale Blankenship, 94, of Ramsey, formerly of Herrick, went to be with the Lord Sunday (July 27, 2003) in his home.
Services will be 10 a.m. Wednesday in Union Christian Church, Ramsey, with Richard Corwin officiating. Visitation will be 5 to 8 p.m. Tuesday in Wallace-Carroll Funeral Home, Herrick. Burial will be in Myers Cemetery, Herrick. Dale was born Dec. 10, 1908, in the family home in Carson Township, the son of George and Emma Wehrle Blankenship. Dale was a lifelong member of Union Christian Church and a former member of Herrick Christian Church, where he served on the board for many years. He was a carpenter who built many homes in the Herrick and Ramsey area. He also raised livestock east of Herrick most of his life. He married Etta Boas on June 13, 1957, in Pana. She preceded him in death Saturday, July 25, 1987, at home.
Surviving are his granddaughters, Vicki (Rich) Nash of Ramsey; Carla (Ed) Bohm of Decatur; great grandchildren, Kim Nash of Peoria, Angi (Tim) Lay of Charleston; Amanda Nash of Pana; Todd Bohm and Tiffany Bohn, both of Decatur; Tierney Nash of Peoria; daughter-in-law, Mary "Topsy" Strain of Ramsey.
He was preceded in death by his wife; four brothers; three sisters; and son, Francis, in 1996.
