He was the son of Jesse Lee (b.ca 1740) and Miriam Baggett (b. 1750). Jesse Lee Sr. supported the American Revolutionary War effort. Jesse Jr. had an earlier wife than Jane, whose name was Nancy Lewis, b. 17 Feb 1778, d. 1838.
