Richard E. Dierick, who lived in Elma all his life, died Sunday, Sept. 12, 2004, in the Puget Sound Health Care Center at Olympia. He was 84. Mr. Dierick was born Dec. 1, 1919, in Elma to Adolphus C. and Priscilla (Richards) Dierick. Raised in Elma, Mr. Dierick was still living in the home where he was raised. He served in the Army from 1942 to 1945 and was discharged a technician fifth grade. On Sept. 19, 1959, he married LaVerne Johnson in Elma. She survives him at the family home. Mr. Dierick worked for the Simpson Door Plant in McCleary for 43 years, retiring in 1982. He enjoyed raising a big garden, picking little wild blackberries, some of which he sold to Duffy's restaurants for their homemade pies, and cutting firewood. Survivors include two sons, Ken Seaberg of Tacoma and Rod Seaberg of Elma; a daughter, Karolee Krushka of Tacoma; a brother, Elma of Saint George, Utah; a sister, Marguerite Wyrick of Nowata, Okla.; 10 grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
