Viola Sofia Bruns was born in El Verano California to Hattie Dobbel Bruns and George Bruns, August 20, 1903, step-daughter of Michael A. Bohlig. She was the 25th. grandchild of Hayward pioneers John and Gaschen Dobbel who owned 1020 acres along Highland Boulevard and Dobbel Avenue, above the present site of California State University. Viola married Herbert Garms who was the son of the founders of Burgermeister Beer Company. After Herbert's death Viola married Edwin "Mike" Kolb, member of a pioneer Dublin California family. Viola and Herb had two children. Viola rests next to her husband Herbert Garms, Lone Tree Cemetery, Hayward California.
