Enlisted in Company B, 35th Battalion, Virginia Cavalry Regiment, CSA. Captured 4/28/1864 in Leesburg. Sent to Old Capitol Prison 5/3/64. He was admitted to Old Capitol Prison Hospital with typhoid fever. Returned to duty 9/17/64. Sent to Ft. Warren Prison in MA 9/20/64. Released 6/10/65. Took oath 6/30/65
