Betty Jean Barnard, 64, of Rushville, died Saturday, Jan. 17, 2004, at her residence.

Born Aug. 14, 1939, in Rushville, she was the daughter of Benjamin and Florence (Remy) Hatfield, both deceased. She married Ben ?Bus? Barnard Jr. on March 12, 1955; he preceded her in death on June 16, 1992.

Mrs. Barnard had lived in Rushville all of her life. During 1990-1992, she was a cook at the Park Restaurant in Rushville. She was recently baptized by Waynesburg Christian Church.

Survivors include four sons, Mike of Westport, Jason of Greensburg, and Mark and Kevin Barnard, both of Rushville; one daughter, Cheryl Reed of Rushville; one brother, Raymond Hatfield of Rushville; three sisters, Virginia (Mrs. Earl) Hodges of Florida and Marjorie Dye and Ida Randall, both of Rushville; 20 grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren.

Besides her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by one daughter, one brother, and one sister.

Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday at Moster & Cox Mortuary in Rushville, with the Rev. David Camp officiating. Burial will follow in East Hill Cemetery in Rushville. Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at the mortuary.

The family has requested that memorial contributions be made to Hospice of Decatur County.
