Edith Henderson Dead at 71
Mrs. Edith Mae Henderson, 71, Santa Monica, Calif., a former long time resident of Watertown and descendent of early settlers of this area, died June 30 at Santa Monica Hospital, of heart failure. She had been admitted earlier in the day.
She is survived her husband, Donald; a daughter, Donna Marie; a granddaughter, Stacey Marie, all of Santa Monica; a sister, Mrs. Shirley Hartman LaMora, El Toro, Calif., and two nieces, Penelope Anne Drane and Nicolette Y. Wiles, also of California.
Born in Seattle, Wash., on Apr. 15, 1909 a daughter of Alfred and Olive M. Coates Cooksley, she moved to Watertown with her mother in 1915. Her mother remarried to Lawrence A. Hartman, who adopted her giving her the name of Edith Mae Hartman.
A graduate of Watertown High School and the Watertown School of Commerce, she worked as a secretary for the St. Regis Paper Company, Deferiet, and on Oct. 14, 1936 she married Donald F. Henderson. The couple moved to Santa Monica in 1963.
