Miles S. Tate,66, Rt. 2, Taylors, died Tuesday at 4:30 p.m. in a Greer hospital after an illnes of four months.
Native of Mount Lebanon commumity, son of the late William I. and Sunnie R. Carlton Tate, he spent most of his life in the Double Springs community and was a member of Double Springs Baptist Church. He was caretaker of the Lyman Recreations Center.
Surviving are his wife, Mrs. Elsie Ross Tate; three daughters, Mrs. Christine Hannon and Mrs. May Lou Hannon of Greer, and Mrs. Nancy McMillan of Rt. 2, Taylors; a son Billy R. Tate of Rt. 3, Taylors; four brothers, Ennis J., Giles R., Walter D.,and Fred J. Tate of Rt. 2, Taylors; three sisters, Mrs. Axie Craft of Rt. 2 Taylors; Mrs. Lula Page of Travelers Rest, and Mrs. Jeanette Lynn of Rt. 1, Taylors; and seven grandchildren.
Funeral services will be conducted Thursday at 11 a.m. at Wood Morturary by Rev. Charles Cudd and Rev. James Thompson. Burial will be in Double Springs Baptist Church cemetery.
Pallbearers will be nephews: Floyd Collins, Dan and Kennith Tate, Outz Burnette, Bill Stokes, and Boyce Mallonee.
The body is at the funeral home. The family is at the home of his daughter Mrs. Hary Lou Hannon, 121 Endless Dr., Greer, and will receive friends at the mortuary Wednesday from 7-9 p.m.
