She was born May 30, 1910, in Amite County, Miss., to the Rev. Delos H. Cassels and Ida Bryant Cassels. She was a homemaker.
She is survived by two daughters, Linda Dyer, of Rumford, Maine, and Jenny Simon and husband, Paul, of Baton Rouge; four grandchildren, Deborah Colby and husband, Jim, of Limington, Maine, Natalie Burnham, of Conway, N.H., Kim Adams and husband Jeff, of Denham Springs, and Daniel Larouche, of Baton Rouge; two sisters, Ottomese Wilson, of Summit, Miss., and Lyndall Larson, of Mesa, Ariz.; three brothers, Bill Cassels and wife Anna Laurie, of Natchez, Miss., Wilson Cassels and wife Lyndell, of Gloster, and Raymond Cassels, of Summit; three great-grandchildren, Jennifer Sughrue and husband Patrick, of Hollis, Maine, Katie Colby, of Limington, and Brandon Himel, of Denham Springs; and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Earl Butler; a grandson, Gregory Larouche; four brothers, Quayle Cassels, Fielding Cassels, Bryant Cassels and David Cassels 1925-2006; and two sisters, Mary Cassels and Sella Allen.
She was a lifelong member of Union Methodist Church near Gloster.
