Burial will follow at Talbert Cemetery under the direction Brown Funeral Home, Gloster.
Visitation will be from noon until service time today at the funeral home.
Mr. Cassels was born Feb. 7, 1925, in Amite County, the son of the Rev. Delos H. Cassels and Ida Bryant Cassels. He was a retired farmer.
He was a longtime member of Union United Methodist Church and a very devoted Christian. He was a faithful father and grandfather. He was also a World War II Army veteran.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Montez Poole Cassels; brothers, Bryant Cassels, Fielding Cassels, and Quayle Cassels; sisters, Sella Allen and Mary Katheryn Cassels.
Survivors include his daughters, Kathryn Cassels and Amy Weaver and husband, Buddy, all of Gloster; grandchildren, Jamie Chisholm and Logan Chisholm, both of Madison, Anthony Dickinson and wife, Hope, of McComb, David Dickinson and Nikki Schiro, both of Gloster; step-grandchildren, Jimmy Dwayne Weaver II, Laurie Weaver and Melissa Weaver, all of Gillsburg; great-grandchildren, Andrew Dickinson and Kelly Dickinson, both of McComb; brothers, Milton Cassels of Natchez, Wilson Cassels of Gloster, and Raymond Cassels of McComb; and sisters, Alice Butler of Gloster, Ottomease Wilson of Summit, and Lyndell Larson of Mesa, Ariz.
Pallbearers will be Glen Stevens, Sid Arnold, T.A. Jackson III, Terry Short, B.B. Hemphill, and Gary Sterling.
The family requests that in lieu of flowers, donations be made to The St. Jude Children's Research Hospital in Memphis, Tenn.
